Fun in the sun!
Here's a few pics of Addy.
She did extremely well flying on the airplane. She even received comments from other surrounding passengers on how well behaved she was. We too were impressed because we were very nervous about flying with an infant.
Addy also got to experience the sand for the first time since being old enough to play. Makes you wonder what she's thinking when she's got her hands in the sand.

Early Intervention
Well we are on vacation and I am up bright and early with Addy so I thought I would update you on some things that have taken place in the last couple of weeks.
We had Addy's IFSP at the Macomb ISD. Addy will be receiving early intervention services due to her developmental delays physically. A total of 2 hours per week is offered. She will receive OT and PT alternating each week at our house for an hour. I will also be taking her to a play group for an hour with 3 other students at the ISD every Tuesday. Addy will be the youngest in the group with the next oldest child being a year old. I am very excited about this opportunity to see how she interacts with others and receive others professional opinions on her development.
Last week we also saw Dr. Nelson at the University of Michigan. She is a physical medicine doctor who specializes in Arthrogryposis. Needless to say, we walked away from the appointment very disappointed. Since Addy has received the diagnosis (I should say even before), I have been researching Arthrogryposis like a mad woman. Therefore, every thing that the doctor had to say was already a part of my vocabulary and knowledge. I also had a big list of questions, some that took her by surprise and none of which we received answers for. The best thing we got out of the visit was that the doctor was going to submit all of the information for Addy to apply for Children's Special Heath Care. She even said she would argue in her favor, should she get rejected for the insurance the first time around. This will be beneficial to us so that Addy could continue to receive therapy year round rather than taking breaks due to our current insurance coverage.

Feeling Better
Addy is feeling much better today. She is definitely not back to 100%, but is on her way. Things got much worse before they got better. Today she is happy and playful. She is not eating much, only formula in small amounts and some cereal. Hopefully tomorrow we can start again with the fruits and veggies. We also have our appointment with Dr. Nelson, who specializes in Arthrogryposis, at UofM Mott Children's Hospital tomorrow. Will let you know what we find out.

Yuck!
Poor Addy has the flu. It came out of nowhere. She began throwing up Tuesday night. At first we weren't sure if it was her dinner not settling well in her tummy or if it was a virus. Needless to say we realized it was a virus once she continued to throw up continually throughout the night.
The next morning (Wed.), we tried Pedialyte, but that wasn't staying down either so the pediatrician said to take her to the hospital for fluids. We went to Children's hosital ER Wednesday afternoon when I got home from work. I figure that while Addy is young, it's worth it for the little bit of extra drive (to Children's hospital) to take her where they specialize only in children. They ran a number of tests. Labs, x-rays, ultrasound.....just to be sure it wasn't more than a virus and of course they gave her an IV. All tests came back normal. She had to drink some more Pedialyte and if she kept it down she could go home. Well, she managed to keep it down and we left around 11:00 p.m. Thankfully for most of the day, she was in good spirits.
Wasn't until about 3:30 in the morning (Thurs.), that it has all started again. I am home with her and today she looks really sick. She kept some liquid down this morning, but since then she has not. So, we are going to continue to watch her and if things don't turn around we may have to make another trip back to the hospital for fluids. Let's hope not!!!!

Getting ready for vacation!
Why Alabama, you ask? Well, Grandma Marci and Papa Rick are going to Gulf Shores for a month and have a 2 bedroom condo. We are going to spend a week with them while I (mom) am on mid-winter break. Gulf Shores is located in the southern most part of Alabama, in between Pensacola, Florida and New Orleans. We are flying into Pensacola and mom and dad may make a getaway to New Orleans for a night. Can't wait!
