Busy Day

Wow...we have had a busy day. After a long week of mom being off work and Addy being sick all week, we certainly made up for it today. To begin the day, Addy had her photo shoot for The Littlest Heroes Project. We went to a local park at 10:00 the morning. The sun was shining, but it certainly was not warm. The wind made it feel very cold. Our photographer was Wendy Martin www.wendymartinphotography.com. She took roughly 200 pictures with 2 different outfit changes. She was great with Addy. She's actually a special education teacher herself who has a love for photography. Pretty cool! We are anxious to get the pics. She should have a sneak peek for us in a couple of days, so stay tuned.

After a long nap, we headed to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. We realized that we never took Addy last year, so we didn't want to miss out again. Addy didn't smile much while she was sitting on his lap and we felt rushed due to the people waiting in line behind us. Part of the problem was that once we sat her on the bunny's lap she couldn't really see him or her?? The bunny didn't move much and I'll admit was a little scary even to me.

After we left the mall we headed back to the park. Addy wanted to play this morning, but it was just too cold. Enjoy the pics of her getting around the playground with her walker. On a side note...we should be getting her new braces any day now. I am not looking forward to shoe shopping with them. Ugh!!!!

Easter Eggs

We dyed easter eggs tonight. The egg spinner by Dudley is the best keep secret in egg dying. It's awesome because everything stays contained within the spinner and it's even easy enough for a 2 year old to do. And.....they only cost $5.00 at Walmart. Get yours today!

HAPPY EASTER.....HOPE THE EASTER BUNNY IS GOOD TO YOU THIS YEAR!

Spartan Pep Rally

We attended the Spartan pep rally at Somerset mall on Friday night. Addy had a great time. She said "spartan" every time she saw a spartan on a banner, shirt, etc. She even clapped along when the band played the fight song. Tomorrow.....we're off to the big game. Unfortunately, Addy is still too young to partake in the all day festivities so she will be staying home with Grandma.

Update

How about those Spartans!!!!! We are very excited. Addy has been saying "Go Spartans" all weekend long.

Just an update on some medical things. Addy is in the process of getting new braces. These will be AFO's which are much higher than her current SMO's. I'm not really looking forward to them. The doctor is hoping that they will help her stop crouching so much and allow her to not drag her feet as much when using the walker. I'm concerned because it will change her pattern when walking. She will now have to pick her feet entirely up as the braces will restrict her ankles from flexing. It also will change her transitions from floor to standing and standing to floor. She has become much more fluid with transitions lately and I don't want that to change. She should be getting the AFO's very soon. Will keep you posted.

Here are a couple of outside pics....riding cars with our neighbor Isabelle and playing in the sand table.

Birthday Party Weekend

Addy had 2 birthday parties to go to this weekend. This first party was for our friends Tyler and Ethan. Tyler turned 3 last week and Ethan is turning 1 this week. Addy has lots of fun, even enjoying her own cupcake as if it were her birthday.

We then attended a party for her cousin Reese who turned 6 last week. This party was at Jeepers which is a facility similar to Chuckie Cheese's. The facility itself was very open and spacious so Addy got to use her walker the entire time. She had a blast riding the rides and playing the games.

Great News!

Well, we have some awesome news to share. Addy has been accepted to be a part of the Littlest Heroes Project.

We have just been accepted so now our next step is to choose a first and second choice from their list of photographers. We are in the process of doing that and are excited to find out when the photo shoot will take place. Here is some information from their website:

The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008, made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. This is our way of giving back and taking a stand for these children who sometimes feel forgotten because of their illnesses. We are here to let them know that they are heroes to many, and to share their inspirational stories and photos with the world.

If you have a child, or know a child, who suffers from any type of serious illness or life altering disability we are here to help. The Littlest Heroes Project provides you with a complimentary photo shoot for your hero and family. Please read the information on this site and be sure to contact us so we can help pair you up with a photographer from your area. The whole family ... Super Sibs and the Brave Parents are welcome to participate in the session as well!
